To assist the Family Desk, Pre-op, Post-op and PACU areas providing support to staff, families and visitors.
Must be 18 years or older.
Must be eighteen years of age or older and possess good interpersonal skills.
Must have no deficits which would inhibit communication.
Must be able to be mobile for long periods of time, sitting, walking.
Must observe hospital policies and procedures, accept responsibilities and limitations.
Willingness to take directions from staff and/or volunteer director and use specified channels for answers to questions.
Be available in the Surgical Waiting Room to assist family members, visitors and hospital staff.
Register and track families.
Assist in limiting the traffic flow into the Pre-Op/Post-Op/PACU areas.
Monitor the Smart-Track surgery schedule.
Communicate family/visitor needs to appropriate resource people.
Safeguard all Protected Health Information (PHI) at all times.
Know and uphold hospital and departmental policies.
Practice Service Excellence.
ORIENTATION AND TRAINING:
Area specific orientation and training on the competencies above will be led by staff in the department listed at the top of this document. Both the volunteer trainee and staff trainer will sign the bottom of this document upon completion of training and a signed copy will be retained by the area.
General orientation is conducted by Volunteer Resources, which includes Service Excellence, Infection Control, Safety, Confidentiality, volunteer policies and procedures, and health screening prior to commencing their volunteer assignment.
DAYS AND TIMES:
Fridays from 12 pm - 4 pm
